Position Summary:

Member of a team responsible for the purchasing, inventory management, and data analysis of 1200+ SKU’s of product for the Upholstery product line. Assist with preparing open-to-buy sales, margin, and inventory plans. Ensure proper forecasting and projections of inventory levels based on analysis of data and timely processing of purchase orders to meet production and sales needs.  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare weekly purchasing forecasts based on inventory levels, sales projections, and delivery times. 
  • Monitor and adjust SKU inventory targets and safety stocks against sales forecasts and market conditions as needed.
  • Assist in the development of Sales & Operating Plan summaries for all SKU’s including demand, inventory, and levels. Oversee optimal inventory flow based on sales projections while maintaining departmental financial goals. Report suggested changes in plan to director.
  • Work alongside Manager and IT to develop strategic and tactical plans for continuous improvement in demand planning and supply planning process and systems.
  • Guide planning team with timelines and input/ maintenance of AS/400 Fabric Item Master as needed. Collect, edit, maintain, and manage fabric data sheet files for all assigned fabrics for new introductions.
  • Working alongside R&D, testing labs, merchandising and management to ensure all data provided is accurate.
  • Have proven influencing and negotiating skills both internally and externally.
  • Communicate issues and identify appropriate action steps.
  • Place purchase orders with manufacturers and suppliers. 
  • Assist in operational process of special projects including responsibility for meeting new product launch timelines and the support of advertising and marketing efforts.
  • Prepare price files for special promotions and increases as required.
  • Oversee planners, based on director’s guidance on internal drop and discontinued fabric control processes while limiting inventory liabilities.
  • Create, analyze, and monitor various sales reports. Review and report trends as new product is launched. Work alongside management and planning team to determine action plan based on reporting.
  • Monitor and maintain order file for accuracy of audits: Based on management direction on adjustments of receipts, quantity changes, date changes, and cancellations.
  • Work with management to develop, coordinate, maintain, enhance, and implement data collection and reporting systems to aid in sound planning and forecasting related decisions.
  • Maintain and manage vendor communication sheets as well as vendor compliance through Ethan Allen Vendor Standards.
  • Communicate and follow-up with vendors and manufacturing to resolve quality and service issues to ensure minimal or no disruption to the manufacturing process.

Job Requirements

Knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • Minimum of eight (8) years of experience in inventory planning, supply chain, finance, or other related areas
  • Strong analytical, time management and written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of confidentiality and significance.
  • Advanced skills/experience in Microsoft Excel is critical.
  • Competence in all MS Office programs as well as AS/400 System Operations. Advanced excel skills are key for the position.
