Position Summary:

Forecast and project effective inventory levels to ensure timely processing of orders to meet production needs.  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare updated forecasts for the weekly open-to-buy and inventory breakdown. Communicate issues and identify appropriate action steps.   
  • Guide planning team with timelines and input/ maintenance of AS/400 Fabric Item Master as needed. Working alongside R&D, testing labs merchandising and management to ensure all data provided is accurate.
  • Collect, edit, maintain and manage fabric data sheet files for all assigned fabrics for new introductions.
  • Prepare price files for special promotions and increases as required.
  • Assist and respond to requests for special requirements in support of advertising or other marketing efforts.
  • Assist in operational process of special projects including responsibility for meeting product launch timelines.
  • Contribute as a key team member at meetings, with key accountabilities for providing data, resolving issues, proposing alternate methods, identifying corrective actions, and presenting information.
  • Assist in the development of Sales & Operating Plan summaries for all SKU’s including demand, inventory and service levels. Work alongside Manager and IT to develop strategic and tactical plans for continuous improvement in demand planning and supply planning process and systems.
  • Oversee optimal inventory flow based on sales projections while maintaining departmental financial goals. Report suggested changes in plan to manager.
  • Create, analyze and monitor various sales reports. Review and report trends as new product is launched. Work alongside management and planning team to determine action plan based on reporting.
  • Monitor and maintain order file for accuracy of audits: Based on management direction on adjustments of receipts, quantity changes, date changes, and cancellations.
  • Oversee planners, based on managers direction on internal drop and discontinued fabric control processes while limiting inventory liabilities.
  • Work with management to develop, coordinate, maintain and implement data collection and reporting systems to aid in sound planning and forecasting related decisions. Manage planning team in creating, daily, weekly and monthly reports as required.
  • Maintain and manage vendor communication sheets as well as vendor compliance through Ethan Allen Vendor Standards.
  • Communicate and follow-up with vendors and manufacturing to resolve quality and service issues to ensure minimal or no disruption to the manufacturing process.

Job Requirements

Knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management or similar field with a minimum of five years relevant inventory or materials planning experience.
  • Strong analytical, time management and written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of confidentiality and significance.
  • Advanced skills/experience in Microsoft Excel is critical.
  • Competence in all MS Office programs as well as AS/400 System Operations. Advanced excel skills are key for the position.
