Position Summary:

Responsible for leading the construction projects of new and existing design centers including, but not limited to, planning, creation of presentation drawings and models, and supervision of construction through outside contractors. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with developer, outside architect and Design Center Development designer to develop basic floor plan for each project.
  • Create, using AutoCAD, an interior architectural construction package for the architect to incorporate into bidding and construction drawings.
  • Responsible for establishing conceptual budgets, and developing construction plans, and details required to complete project under budget.
  • Communicate with contractors for bidding on a specific project and consult with department director to select successful bidding contractor.
  • Organize and arrange contracts for new contractors and vendors.
  • Troubleshoot issues as needed throughout the construction of project.
  • Update prototypical drawing package as needed, and odds and ends requests from various individuals. 
  • Research value engineering efforts to establish construction methods to reduce building costs, and renovation costs.
  • Create plans and coordinate remodeling efforts on existing Design Centers.
  • Responsible for developing plans and implementing details for Ethan Allen Service Centers, including special additional corporate facilities as directed by management.
  • Responsible for handling all architectural planning and detailing for Retail Design Center renovations.
  • Arrange invoices to be reviewed and sent into Accounts Payable for payment.
  • Maintain and order supplies for the department as needed.
  • Responsible to research new construction methods and materials to reduce costs.
  • Develop plans and coordinate construction of Special building Projects assigned by management.
  • Organize and gather information regarding fixtures, electrical, flooring, skylights, walls, and other items to incorporate into existing and future stores.

Job Requirements

Knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent with minimum of ten (10) years work experience in building, architecture, or construction experience, including minimum one (1) year as project manager is required OR Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Construction Management, or a related field with minimum of three (3) years experience.
  • Must have conceptual knowledge of construction and architectural and be proficient in AutoCAD 2020 and Microsoft Office.
  • Must be able to work well independently and in an organized manner.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Ability to travel up to 25 percent as needed.
