Position Summary

This position is a Member of the Executive Committee and is responsible for maintaining the building and grounds of the hotel. The primary duty is to ensure the smooth daily operation and guest appeal of the hotel.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Train, hire and supervise engineering staff.
  • Keep current records of inspection repairs as required by state law.
  • Meet with outside contractors for HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Security, etc.
  • Order all materials, supplies and tools.
  • Responsible for maintaining departmental budget & check book, which includes processing and coding of department invoices.
  • Operate within the budget guidelines for department & oversee utility expense.
  • Complete and delegate responsibilities regarding painting, construction, installations, and general upkeep for the hotel.
  • Responsible for, but not limited to, proper operations of all electrical, mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, laundry, kitchen, refrigeration, lighting systems, and all specialized equipment, property upkeep, and compliance with city, state and /or federal code compliance.
  • Review work orders and complete work by priority; ensuring all maintenance requests are completed in a timely manner.
  • Maintain & update Hotel Service Pro.
  • Assume full responsibility for the condition of the property in the heart of the house (the infrastructure) as well as all the public areas & exterior property.
  • Have a thorough understanding of the Ethan Allen Hotel fire alarm procedures, emergency evacuation procedures and all safety related issues and train new associates.
  • Develop & maintain Preventive Maintenance Programs for all equipment, guestrooms, and systems.
  • Responsible for continuous update of safety manual and all training for entire company including OSHA regulations, DOT Testing, Right to Know Law and Chair of safety Committee and NFPA training.
  • Loss prevention and security.
  • Maintain outdoor pool, grounds, sprinkler system and exterior of hotel.
  • Maintain all required hotel licenses and permits for hotel.                                         
  • Attend all weekly stand up, staff & BEO meetings.
  • Be available outside of regularly scheduled hours (nights/weekends/holidays) to address urgent/emergency facilities related issues in a timely manner.  Such issues to include but not limited to taking calls from GM, respond onsite as appropriate to alarms/911 calls and other related issues as the arise.

Job Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum three (3) years’ experience in lead maintenance role.
  • Working knowledge of Excel and Word.
  • Understand electronic, mechanical gauges (thermometers, pressure gauges, etc.).
  • Extensive machinery and other maintenance-related technology use.
  • Ability to operate cleaning equipment such as, but not limited to, a vacuum.
  • Proper and safe use of chemicals.
  • Valid driver’s license to drive Hotel Vehicle.
