Position Summary:

Forecasts and projects effective inventory levels to ensure timely processing of orders; and provides support to daily merchandising functions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Communicate and/or follow-up with all vendors weekly to flow inventory based on current ROS.
  • Maintain optimal inventory flow based on sales projections while maintaining departmental financial goals.
  • Create and maintain purchase order file:  receipts; quantity changes; date changes; and cancellations.
  • Maintain and manage vendor import files as well as vendor compliance inclusive of packaging through Ethan Allen Vendor Standards.
  • Work closely with Import department and international retailing to best service the offshore stores.
  • Maintain AS/400 Item Master and Price Master as needed, working alongside Merchandising team to ensure all data provided is accurate.
  • Collect, maintain and provide required reports for vendor cost, purchasing requirements, rate of sale, proto, master swatch, and other categories as assigned.
  • Assist and respond to requests for special requirements in support of advertising or other marketing efforts.
  • Prepare bi-weekly forecasts and weekly inventory reports for all domestic and imported products. 
  • Input purchase orders into the I5 system and transmit to domestic vendors. 
  • Perform daily review of over-solds.  Communicate discontinued products to IT and Web teams.
  • Assist Compliance and Merchandising team in coordinating product testing on new assortment.

Other Responsibilities, if applicable:

  • Participate in creating proto packages with manager our Merchandising planning team and manage product information.
  • Manage communication between our international partners and our Ethan Allen’s merchandising team & plant.  
  • Participate on conference calls.
  • Run and maintain weekly sales and inventory analysis.
  • Update and maintain the open order report, forecast model and product information.
  • Update bi-weekly international backlog report.
  • Prepare ad-hoc reports as needed by senior management.
  • Manage all sales materials including labels.

Job Requirements

Knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management or similar field with a minimum of three (3) years relevant inventory or materials planning experience.
  • Strong analytical, time management and written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Must have advanced Microsoft Excel skills/experience.
  • Competence in all MS Office programs as well as AS/400 System Operations
