GENERAL OBJECTIVES

Responsible for the safe and efficient delivery and set up of products to customers’ homes and retail design centers.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Coordinate and assist in loading and unloading delivery trucks in compliance with safety regulations and standards established by the company.
  • Must be familiar with and abide by the rules and regulations prescribed by the U.S. Department of Transportation Federal highway Administration.
  • Must operate vehicle in a safe and courteous manner at all times and follow all traffic laws.
  • Report any personal injury and any damage to the equipment to the supervisor.
  • Responsible for keeping truck clean, inside and out.
  • Report delivery exceptions to supervisor as they occur.
  • Must be neat, clean and in full uniform when delivering to or picking up furniture from the store or customer.
  • Handle merchandise properly to ensure against any possibility of injury to self or other employees and prevent damage to the merchandise.
  • Report and product damage to supervisor.
  • Report any damage to customer’s property to supervisor.
  • Assist with the placement and movement of inventory for store displays.
  • Ensure compliance with delivery and transfer procedures and obtain signatures for customer deliveries.

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

 

 Education:  High School education.

 

Experience:  Six to twelve months in a home delivery operation, preferably fine furniture.

 

Other Requirements:  Ability to work from detailed instructions, use of sound judgment and visual attention.  Must be in good physical condition, heavy lifting required.  Must be able to talk to customers in a courteous manner.  Position requires a valid driver’s license, except in limited circumstances in which the associate can establish to the Company’s satisfaction that they have available for use during all business hours an alternate means of transportation not requiring the operation of a motor vehicle which will enable them to perform the duties of their position.  Holiday, evening and weekend work may be required.
